Download my London School of Economics Master's dissertation below.

I'm working on a shorter version of the research, but in the meantime here is a synopsis and the full thing! Feel free to reach out to discuss anything.

Synopsis:

  • 74% of stakeholders agreed that today’s levels of overproduction and overconsumption make circularity unachievable on its own - the industry simply cannot recycle its way out of its current crisis - meaning reduction of production volumes and overconsumption is a necessary precondition for any viable circular system.

  • 56% of stakeholders recognized complementarity between degrowth and circularity: sufficiency and policy (top-down) must work in tandem with efficiency and innovation (bottom-up) to transition fashion away from the linear growth model.

  • The research proposes a ‘Degrowth to the Doughnut’ framework - sequencing controlled reductions in virgin production ahead of circularity - to build a fashion system that operates within planetary boundaries and upholds a just social foundation.
